IGCSE Mathematics
The IGCSE Mathematics courses are designed to enhance students' knowledge and skills in Mathematics. They provide a platform for students to study advanced mathematics and provide competency for everyday math skills. Course Structure and Content
There are a number of IGCSE Mathematics courses that span a range of topics and levels. The two main exam boards are Cambridge (CIE) and Pearson Edexcel, and their courses are aimed at 14-16 year olds. The most challenging and comprehensive programs designed for students who excel and enjoy mathematics are the Cambridge (CIE) 0606 Additional Mathematics and the Pearson Edexcel Further Pure Mathematics 4PM1. Both syllabi ensure students develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills essential for further studies in higher-level mathematics courses and STEM-based subjects and contain range of content which includes applications of trigonometry and calculus.
A less challenging offering is the Cambridge (CIE) Extended 0580 Maths and the Pearson Edexcel (Specification A) Higher 4MA1 Mathematics. These courses are aimed at those students who want to develop higher-order mathematics skills and experience more challenging conceptual mathematics such as functional notation, calculus and vectors.
The least challenging course is the Cambridge (CIE) Core 0580 Maths and the Pearson Edexcel (Specification A) Foundation 4MA1 Mathematics. These courses are ideal for those learners who may find mathematics challenging or prefer a less intensive program of study. The content covers everyday mathematical skills.
